Privacy Policy
China MRI Cost runs chinamricost.com, an information site about the cost of MRI, CT and PET-CT scans in China. This page describes what the site actually does with data. Questions go to contact@chinamricost.com.
What we collect and why
The free price-check form
When you send the form on the contact page, we receive your email address, your name if you give it, the scan and body area you ask about, the city, your rough dates, the country you live in, whether you are in China now, whether a doctor asked for the scan, and anything you write in the notes box. What scan you need is information about your health. We use it only to answer your question, and only because you tick the consent box. We do not pass it to hospitals, clinics, coordinators or advertisers. If we ever want to introduce you to a clinic or coordinator, we will ask you first, by email, and do nothing until you say yes.
Please do not send medical reports, images, passport numbers or insurance numbers. We do not need them to quote a price.
Emails you send us
If you email contact@chinamricost.com, we receive your address and message and use them to reply.
Visit counts
We count page views with two cookie-free tools: a self-hosted Umami server and the visit log of our own gateway server. For each page view they receive the page path (never anything after a # sign), the referring site, campaign tags in the link (such as utm_source), browser and device type, screen width, language and country-level location. Your browser keeps a random visit number in session storage for 30 minutes so a visit can be counted once; it is not a cookie and is not shared with other sites. The tools respect your browser's Do Not Track setting. Like any web server, they see your IP address when you connect; we do not store it in the visit log.
The calculator
The wait and cost calculator runs entirely in your browser. The numbers you type are not sent to us.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
Some pages may show ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies or similar identifiers to show ads and to measure them, and may use your visits to this and other sites to personalise ads. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google asks for your consent before it uses personal data for ads; if you decline, you may still see non-personalised ads. You can manage personalised ads at adssettings.google.com and read how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Ads are not endorsements: an advertised clinic or service has not been checked by us.
Who processes the data
- Cloudflare (United States, global network): hosts the pages, receives email for contact@chinamricost.com and stores our inbox, and sends our reply emails.
- Our gateway server (the Netherlands, rented from Hostinger): stores form requests and the visit log.
- Umami: analytics software we run ourselves; it receives the visit counts described above.
- Google: AdSense advertising, as described above.
Some of these providers process data outside your country, including in the United States. We rely on their standard contractual terms for such transfers.
How long we keep it
We keep a price-check request and our emails about it while we may still need them to answer follow-up questions. We do not yet delete requests automatically. Ask us and we delete yours, from the form server and the inbox, within 30 days. Visit-log entries contain no name or email address.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, withdraw the consent you gave on the form (this does not affect replies already sent), or object to how we use it. Write to contact@chinamricost.com; we answer within 30 days. If you are in the EEA or the UK you may also complain to your data protection authority. California residents can ask us not to sell or share personal information; we do not sell it, and you can turn off personalised ads with the Google link above.
Children
This site is for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18, and the form asks you to confirm you are 18 or older. If you believe a child has sent us a request, tell us and we will delete it.
Security
Pages and the form use HTTPS. Access to the inbox and the form server is limited to the people who answer requests.
Changes
We update this page when our practices change and show the date above.
